Yatra Bus kills woman, injures three others

Kangan: A woman was killed and three others including two yatries were injured, one of them critically, when a Yatri bus hit a pedestrian along with her minor daughter in Gund tehsil of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district .

An official said that the mishap took place on Friday afternoon when a bus bearing registration number JK02AW- 3186 full of Amarnath yatri’s on way to Srinagar from Baltal hit a woman and her minor daughter before turning turtle apparently after the driver lost control over the vehicle.

The incident left the woman dead on the spot while as two yatris travelling in the bus also suffered injuries.

The official identified the deceased lady as 40 year old Zaitoon Begum wife of Abdul Qayoom, resident Regan and the injured were identified as 4 year old Ulfat Jaan daughter of Abdul Qayoom of Rezan, Mahesh Sabna Ashok snd Suraj residents of Maharashtra .

All the injured persons were immediately rushed to PHC Kullan were from they were shifted to SDH Kangan for further treatment however Ulfat Jaan was referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment .

 

SHO Police Station Gund, Sajad Ahmad while confirming the incident said that the woman died after she was hit by the bus.

“Soon after the incident, locals along with Gund police immediately reached at the spot and evacuated all the passengers from the badly damaged vehicle and shifted them to hospital ,” he said

He further said that after completion of medico legal formalities, the body of the deceased lady was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.

Gund police has registered a case in this regard.
