KWFF concludes at Tagore Hall

The five day ‘Kashmir World Film Festival’ (KWFF) concluded at Tagore Hall here on Wednesday.

Organized by Actors Creative Theatre (ACT), a non-profit organization in collaboration with its different sponsors, the festival was first of its kind that also screened international movies.

The auditorium witnessed huge rush of students from Media Education Research Centre (MERC), University of Kashmir, Journalism students of Central University of Kashmir, students from colleges, higher secondary’s and movie lovers of Srinagar.

As a routine screenings, the organizers screened three films this afternoon. The films include ‘Gul’ directed by Gul Reyaz, Lissa ‘Aisha’ directed by Asthma Bseiso and ‘Kabuliwala’ directed by Tapan Sinha.

Around twenty films were screened in seven different languages that include Hindi, Urdu, English, Kashmiri, Bengali, Bhojpuri and Spanish.

Besides screening of films, the young artists were given a chance to learn about film direction.

The four day film workshop was conducted by Canon Indian and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

“We have called renowned bollywood filmmakers who held film making workshops so as to guide the young artists and the people who are serious about making their career in films,” said an organizer.

The guest of honour on the occasion was bollywood actor Rajat Kapoor while the chief guest was Director FTII, Bhupendra Kainthola.

The movies that won award in national category include Bokul (Fiction) and Shepherds of Paradise (Documentary), Velvet Revolution, Mirror, In Between in International category.

The films awarded in Jury special mention include both the nationals that Kintsukuroi (Fiction) and Waenji Gaash (Documentary).

Chairman ACT Mushtaaque Ahmad Khan said that he was thankful to all those who made this event possible.

“All the five days went good. I am thankful to all my friends and especially to my mother through whose blessing, this all was possible,” Khan said.

“The presence of Director FTII and the Bollywood actor Rajat Kapoor gave a sense that now my event has been completed successfully,” he said adding that they will continue to hold such events in near future as well.
