Geelani pins hopes on Iran over Kashmir resolution
Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday hoped that Iran will support Kashmir cause likewise they provide their support to the Palestinian people.
According to the statement issued here, Geelani welcomed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei’s statement and termed it as ‘timely and pragmatic’.
Geelani also thanked Iran’s supreme religious leader and expressed his satisfaction for supporting the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle for freedom.
Hurriyat (G) chief appealed international community, institutions and influential personalities to use their influence and asked to support people of J&K in their struggle against ‘forced occupation’.
“Iran being a country based on Islamic ideology, we hope that this country will support our cause likewise they provide their support to Palestinian people,” Geelani said.
Geelani said that Iran’s revolutionary leader Imam Khomeini always followed a straight forward policy and supported our mission.
While referring to Kashmir and Palestinian, Geelani said that these two issues are very much similar. “These issues are too sensitive and related to whole Muslim Ummah,” he said.
“The religious places are desecrated and a planned genocide is being carried in both Kashmir and Palestine,” Geelani added.
“Unless these two issues are resolved according to people’s aspirations and expectations, the uncertain situation and instability will continue to haunt people living in Muslim world,” Geelani said, adding that “Iran has a leading role to play and they can be of great help to generate a consensus and public opinion against mass killings in these two regions.”
Urging Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan to forge a regional alliance, Geelani said that “it will solve various complicated issues and will help in building the era of peace, prosperity and development in the region.
He added that it will create an atmosphere for resolving the issues like Kashmir, Palestinian and other issues confronting the Muslim world.
Geelani said that considering his ‘high caliber and stature, Ayatollah Khamenei can prove of great help as a facilitator in this regard.
