Restrictions imposed in Srinagar to prevent Separatist-called protests

Authorities have imposed restrictions in seven police station areas of Srinagar on Sunday to prevent protests called by pro-freedom leaders.

The leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar and Yasin Malik have called for the valley-wide protests against the yesterday’s’ killings in Dialgam Anantnag where in a gunfight between militants and government forces two militants and two civilians including a woman were killed.

Two militants killed included a top LeT commander Bashir Lashkar.

Srinagar District Magistrate , Farooq Lone said, “restrictions will remain in force in Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar, Safakadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud.

Heavy deployments of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed the areas placed under restrictions as well as in sensitive areas of Srinagar and other districts, the police said.

Shops, public transport, educational institutes and other businesses remained shut in these areas.
