JKLF chief Yasin Malik condemns fresh wave of arrests in Valley

Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, on Friday, condemned the fresh wave of arrests in Kashmir.

Meanwhile on the call of resistance leadership, JKLF leaders and activists staged a peaceful protest against the United States declaring Syed Salahuddin as a “global terrorist” and fresh wave of arrests in Kashmir at Budshah Chowk Lal Chowk. The protest of JKLF leaders and activists was led by JKLF zonal president, Noor Muhammad Kalwal.

Malik said, “Kashmiris are fighting for a just and democratic cause. Our struggle is a democratic struggle, which in all purposes is in accordance with international laws, UN charter and resolutions.”

He said that the authorities are trying to choke every political activity in the Valley.

With the US declaring Syed Slahuddin a “global terrorist”, JKLF chairman said that “US and the rest of international community are well aware that for the past 70 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are engaged in a long and peaceful struggle for achieving their basic human and political right— the right to freedom and right to self-determination.”

He said, “Instead of condemning the ongoing oppression of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and acknowledging the legitimacy of their struggle, the US government has strangely chosen to club the freedom struggle with terrorism and this is most unfortunate.” Other, JKLF leaders Javed Zargar, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and others gathered at Madeena Chowk and marched towards Budshah Chowk where they staged a peaceful sit-in.

Holding placards in their hands and raising slogans, the participants of the protest was addressed by Noor Muhammad Kalwal and Siraj ud Din Mir.
