Geelani condemns detention of Hurriyat leaders

The Chairman of the Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani, has condemned the detention of Hurriyat leaders, terming it as the worst kind of state terrorism.

In a statement, Geelani condemned the detention of Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar and Meraj u Din Kalwal and added that authorities have virtually transformed state into a police garrison.

Condemning the state administration for their ‘vengeful policy’ and aggressive approach against leadership, Syed Ali Geelani, said this clearly ilustrates that how the government is muzzling the voice of the freedom-loving people of Kashmir,”.

“Such tactics will not weaken the resolve of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

APHC in its statement said that police on Tuesday night raided the residences of aforesaid leadership and logged them in police station Kothi Bagh and later shifted to Rajbagh.

Syed Ali Geelani while terming these arbitrary arrests as unjustified, said that it is futile move of authorities. State administration is very desperate to strangulate genuine voices, he added.

Terming the fresh arrest spree as illogical and unjustified, Geelani said that all these tactics instead of serving any good for authorities will prove counterproductive.

Syed Ali Geelani said that since last seventy years the authorities through their aggressive and all offensives against people and leadership, could not deter people from pursuing their mission, nor it is possible in future too added he.
