Clashes erupted in Sopore after Eid prayer, dozens sustain injuries

More than a dozen people were injured when forces and youth clashed in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on the eve of Eid Ul Fitr.

According to the sources, soon after EID prayer, scores of people protested against government forces while raising pro-freedom slogans.

Witness said that the huge gathering marched towards Main Chowk from EIDGAH Sopore. The protesters were not allowed to move towards the main chowk by the security forces already deployed in the area.

“The youth started pelting stones on the forces and they retialiated with tear gas shells and pellet guns,” witness said.

The injured includes a scribe who suffered pellet injuries.

Menawhile, they all were rushed to SDH SOPORE for treatment.
