State Level Naat Competition held at SKICC
Jammu and Kashmir Private Schools Association today organised its first state-level Naat competition at SKICC here in Srinagar. The association also facilitated the finalists of the debate competition which was held earlier this month.
Minister of Education, Muhammad Altaf Bukhari, who was the guest of honour at the function said, “The competition like these allow our children to be competitive and confident to move forwards. I always felt that private schools have an important role to play particularly when almost 50 percent of our children are studying in private sector”.
The three prominent Islamic scholars who participated in the competition as the Jury include Professor Naseem Ahmad Shah, former head of the Department of Islamic Studies, University of Kashmir, Muhammad Yusuf Mashoor, poet and educationalist and Syed Suhaib Shah, an international orator.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Naseem Ahmad Shah said that the schools play a big role in the growth of a student.
“The competitions like this indicate that the schools have not only made students prepared for the earthly world but for hereafter also”, Shah said.
Ten districts of the valley participated in the competition which concluded today at SKICC with Mir Aqib of Scholars School bagged the first position. The second and third position was bagged by Shahzab of Muslim Public School and Ayesha of R.P School of Srinagar respectively.
Minister of Education also announced a five thousand rupees award for the students who participated in the competition.
Meanwhile, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Education Department also participated in the function.
