PDP rules out fissures in coalition
PDP General Secretary, Rafi Ahmad Mir, today said that there are no fissures in the coalition and BJP was on board in seeking consensus of stakeholders on implementation of GST.
Mir said in a statement that the PDP led government has widened the sphere of talks by actively involving stakeholders, opposition parties and civil society in opinion building.
He said that present government doesn’t want to implement any decision in haste and seeking confidence of stake holders was imperative.
Reiterating that coalition partners have full confidence in leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Mir said that interest of the people and the interest of state would be balanced by a prudent decision of the government.
Mir exuded confidence that the government will deliver its full term under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. The statement came a day after Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Nirmal Singh, threatened to pull out from the government in case the GST was not implemented by July 1, the deadline by which it is being rolle out across India.
The BJP on Friday said it won’t “hesitate to pull out from the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir if the GST is not rolled out in the state from July 1.’’ “ We (BJP) have already conveyed to our alliance partner PDP that if the GST is not rolled out in Jammu and Kashmir till July 1, we won’t hesitant to take an extreme step in the national interest,” said deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh, addressing a seminar ‘Jammu & Kashmir: present scenario and our responsibilities and duties in Jammu.
“The government is determined to implement GST, but the opposition and some miscreants who opposed it have created confusion by linking it with the state’s unique identity,” Singh said. GST is matter of governance and a major tax reform, he said.
