Forces allegedly thrash residents of Kamdulan Shopian, vandalise property

The residents of Kamdulan village in Shopian district of south Kashmir, on Friday, alleged thrashing and ransacking of properties by government forces.

The residents said that forces barged into their houses at around 2 pm and thrashed the inmates. “They ransacked the properties, damaged windowpanes of many houses and even one local mosque and damaged glasses of more than 30 vehicles. Many locals were injured due to the thrashing.”

The injured have been hospitalised in the district hospital of Shopian. The injured have been identified as Amir Beigh, Urfee Bashir, Amir Rashid, Anayat Dar, Mukhtar Naik and Nisar Kasai.

The residents alleged that such kind of incidents was happening in Shopian and Pulwama districts since the last one month. However, police hasn’t filed a single case against the forces.

They added that we are under military rule and they do whatever they want. There are laws only for common people not for them.

A top police official when contacted said that some youth had pelted stones on the Rashtriya Rifles camp at Nagisheran Pahnoo Shopian which is just one km from Kamdulan. The stone pelters were from Kamdulan village. “We will investigate the matter.”

The Nagisheran Rashtriya Rifles camp was vacated ten-years –ago. They have come back in this area recently.

Such type of incidents have been reported from many villages of Shopian district, mainly Turkwangam, Heff Shirmal, Sugan, Chili Pora, Vehil, and in Tral area of Pulwama district.
