Ministers skip work to take part in Yoga

Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh, and Industries Minister, Chander Prakash Ganga, skipped work today to take part in the Yoga event which was held at the official residence of  Nirmal Singh and was attended by large number of BJP leaders.

According to sources, among others the BJP’s Industries Minister, Chander Prakash Ganga, were present in the function which was led by Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh. Ganga had earlier created controversy after he had suggested that harsh measures should be adopted against the stone pelters. He had later retracted from his statement. 

BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir Incharge and National Vice- President, Avinash Rai Khanna, also took part in the Yoga Divas. Besides Chander Prashad Ganga, MLCs Sofi Yousuf, Ramesh Arora, Surinder Amberdar and Charanjeet Singh Khals, Vice- Chairmen, Daljeet Singh Chib, G M Mir, Khalid Jehangir and other BJP leaders including Hina Bhat took part in the event.

According to sources the official residence of the Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh, was turned into a BJP office as most of the party office bearers flocked there to take part in the Yoga Divas.

Hundreds of people including some school children were present at the function and the BJP functionaries had made it a point that they were present at the function. Braving the rains, the BJP workers including its office bearers from different districts reached the Deputy CM’s residence to participate in the third international day of yoga, which was marked across India.

At the official residence of the Deputy CM, the BJP workers pledged to make Yoga popular by involving school children in future events. BJP National Vice President, Avinash Rai Khanna, said at the event “ yoga heals a person from stressful life and refreshes the soul.’’ “Yoga has been recognized throughout world as it heals a soul and refreshes body,” Khanna told the participants, while leading the Yoga Asan.

Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, while participating in the yoga, said it (yoga) unites the souls. “World has accepted the countless benefits of yoga and is celebrating the day throughout the world today,” he said, adding, people must adopt yoga in daily life to avail its benefits.

Officials said that the Yoga day was celebrated at the residence of the Nirmal Singh during the day amid tight security and it was stressed that the “ Yoga as a way of life’’ needs to be adopted and its “ efficacy spread among people of different religious faiths.’’
