Now, Kashmiri, Dogri, Bodhi languages to be taught in Class 9 and 10

To encourage and promote regional and lingual languages of the state, the state government has sanctioned teaching of Kashmiri, Dogri and Bodhi languages in Classes 9 and 10 in all government and private (recognized) schools of the state as compulsory subject.

An order issued by the Education Department said, “In continuation of the earlier orders, sanction has been accorded to the extension of teaching of regional languages –Kashmiri, Dogri and Bodhi – in Classes 9 and 10 in all government and private (recognized) schools of the state as compulsory sixth subject, in areas where such languages are spoken as mother tongue.”.

This order would be implemented from the next academic session 2019-2020.

Till now, the languages are taught till Class 8 in all government and private (recognized) schools.
