Vehicle plunges into river Sindh at Sonamarg , one injured, driver missing

A man was Monday morning rescued by police from Nallah Sindh near Hung Sonamarg after the vehicle he was travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into it while as the driver of the vehicle went missing .

Officials said that the Innova vehicle bearing registration number JKO1T-9484, was on its way to Srinagar from Leh, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into Nallah Sindh near Sonamarg.

They said that soon after getting information about the incident a joint rescue operation was launched by Police Station Gund and Sonamarg to retrieve the passenger from the gushing water who was waiving his hands after he got stuck in the mid of the gushing Nallah Sindh.

The injured person identified as Krishan Kant Bala son of Manghat Ram Bala resident of Ramvishwar Temple Jawahar Nagar Srinagar was immediately shifted to PHC Kullan from where he was later referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.

Officials said the accident took place during wee hours and the search operation continued for the missing driver, Fayaz Ahmad, a resident of Qamarwari Srinagar, who is feared to have been drowned in the Nallah.
