‘Shabir Shah’s brother, nephew injured’

Police and paramilitary forces on Sunday deliberately “targeted and fired pellets upon the brother and nephew of senior Hurriyat leader and chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah near Bijbehara area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, a party spokesman said here in a press statement.

According to party spokesperson, Syed Shah who is the brother of Shabir Shah and his son Arshid Shah were targeted by police and paramilitary force who fired several rounds of pellets on their vehicle while they were on way to Srinagar to meet Shabir Ahmad Shah. After the medical checkup duo have been shifted to hospital for the treatment, spokesman said. Meanwhile, the spokesperson has condemned the attack on brother of Shabir Shah and his son Arshid Shah. He also said, “These are the worst kind of human rights violations occurring continuously.”

However in response to the news being circulated on social networking sites, WhatsApp groups and on the news portals that some persons got injured after they were hit by pellets at Bijbehara, Anantnag today, District police authorities Anantnag have informed that no such incident has happened in Bijbehara. “No tear smoke or pellet was fired in Bijbehara today it has informed further,’’ said  police in a statement.
