DDC reviews functioning of Education Department

District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Talat Parvez Ruhella, today convened a meeting to take stock of functioning of the Education Department and review implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes for the Department.

ZEOs, ZEPOs, AD Planning, ZRCs and teachers of various Government schools attended the meeting.

The meeting had a detailed discussion on the progress in the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes including RMSA and SSA. It was said that out of 809 Government schools in the district 38 are functioning in rented accommodation, besides work on some high school buildings is going in full swing.

Regarding the vacancy positions of staff, the DDC was apprised that seven Higher Secondary School Principals, 22 High school Headmasters and 165 Master grade positions are lying vacant against the sanctioned strength in the district. The DDC assured the officers of the Education Department that he will take up the matter with the concerned quarters so that they vacancies are filled up at the earliest.

He asked the officers to identify areas of concern like drop out ratio of students, comprehension and language problems so that it can be tackled comprehensively.

The Meeting was informed that Department is going to celebrate the declaration of youth of Kulgam 2017 for which a detailed programme has been already chatted out. The DDC sought full cooperation from resource persons from education Department in making it a successful endeavor. He directed them to channelize the talent among the students for their bright future prospects.
