While following Joint Resistance Leadership’s peaceful protest call after Friday prayer against the NIA raids on leadership and implementation of GST, scores of youth soon after Friday prayer protested near Markazi Jamia Masjid Sopore.

The youth, according to the witness, were shouting anti-government forces and pro-freedom slogans over the killings of a civilian yesterday in Rangreth Srinagar during clashes.

Reports said that clashes erupted when groups of youth tried to take a protest march from Jamia Masjid old town area of Sopore towards Main Chowk, amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans and were stopped by the government forces who were already deployed at main bazaar area.

As the forces barred the youth to take out a march, some of them started hurling stones, triggering clashes in the area.

Meanwhile, sources said that the armed forces responded with teargas shells to disperse the protesters youth.
