Ministers launch Hanjoora-Branwar road upgradation project

Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today inaugurated the up-gradation work on Rs 14.39 crore Hanjoora-Branwar road project.

Speaking on the occasion, Naeem Akhtar said that the 11 km long road project would be completed by December 2018 under PMGSY scheme. He said that Hanjoora-Branwar upgradation road project was the long pending demand of the locals and upon completion it will benefit a large section of the population.

The Works Minister said that the government has initiated number of developmental projects in the Chrar-e-Sharif constituency and around Rs 50 crore would be spent on these projects. The minister urged the un-employed local youth to take benefit from various Government schemes.

While addressing the gathering, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said that he is committed to make Chrar-e-Sharief a model constituency with the support and co-operation of local people. He said that the Hanjoora-Branwar road project would benefit Branwar, Surasyar, Dadiwanpora and several other areas. He said that in the absence of quality road connectivity, the local population in the area was facing a lot of problems.

The Minister said that apart from this vital road up gradation project, other three ongoing road projects from Zoohama to Baba Gund, Loolipora to Banjar and Kakoring to Chrawani would be completed soon at an estimated cost of Rs 26 crore.

The Agriculture Minister also said that in the next phase, around Rs 32.30 crore would be spent on the Nowpora-Brinjan, Bonen to Kutabal and Watkulu to Wagni Darwan road projects. He said that 80 percent of roads would me macadamized in the constituency in the current year. He said that he has given Rs 1.5 crore from his constituency development fund for the installation of transformers in his constituency and six new power receiving stations are being constructed in the constituency.

District Development Commissioner Budgam, Chief Engineer PMGSY, Vice Chairman JK cements and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
