Gunmen shoot cop in Kulgam
A policeman was shot dead in Bogund village of Kulgam in South Kashmir on Thursday, police said.
An official said that Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar was injured after gunmen opened fire at him near his home.
Dar was rushed to District Hospital Kulgam where he was declared dead on arrival. Shabir is survived by his wife and 13 months old son.
The official said that Dar sustained multiple bullet injuries.
Later a wreath laying ceremony was held in DPL Kulgam. DIG South Kashmir S.P Pani led the police officers and jawans in laying floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the slain cop. SSP Kulgam Shridhar Patil was also present during the ceremony.
Meanwhile, police said that a massive manhunt has been launched in the district to nab the culprits.
