Poppy cultivation destroyed

The Excise department today destroyed poppy in various villages of Budgam and Shopian district  spread over about 85 Kanals of land.

A team headed by Excise and Taxation Officer destroyed 45 kanals of poppy in Batmaden and Wanpora villages of Shopian district. Another team headed by Excise and Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir destroyed Poppy on 40 kanals of land in Goojar, Dardpora and Dangripora of district Budgam.

The Deputy Excise Commissioner said that so far, a total of 2798 kanals of poppy have been destroyed in Kashmir valley by the Excise department.
