Ministers review progress of work on various projects

Minister for Information and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today asked the officers of PHE department to expedite the work on Ans Water Supply Scheme (WSS) in Darhal, Rajouri.

The instructions were issued during a meeting convened to review the progress of work of the scheme in Rajouri district.

Speaking during the meeting, the Minister said that the completion of the scheme would address the long pending demand of the farmers living in the area. He said the irrigation water supply scheme would eventually boost the income of farmers as it will irrigate large sections of crop land.

The meeting was informed that main Ans Irrigation canal with length of around 6.9 kms along with other distributaries channel of 43 km is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 85.57 crore. The scheme would irrigate around 2000 hectares of land by discharge of 120 cusecs of water.
