JK boys, girls secured 6th, 8th rank at national level

J&K Boys and Girls team secured 6th and 8th rank at all India level respectively at all India Junior national Rugby Sevens championship which concluded on Sunday at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium Chennai.

Teams from all the states of India participated in the championship which was organised by All India Rugby Association. The championship was held under 18 category of boys and girls.

J&K girl’s team played four matches in which they won two against Goa and Andhra Pradesh and lost one against Maharastra, while another match ended with a draw against Delhi.

J&K Boys also played four matches in which they won three against Goa, Telangana and Delhi and lost one match against West Bengal.

The J&K girl’s team was led by Suzain Bhat and the boys team was led by Suhaib Jeelani.

While talking to Rugby Coach, Soliha Yousuf, who accompanied both the teams, said that both teams gave their best performance.

“Our both teams performed very well which led them to the higher ranking in all India Sevens Rugby. All the players played with keen interest” adding “this is the result of hard work of our players and coaches.”

“From this championship our players learned very much and there is always room for improvement. I hope that all the players will keep their spirits high for upcoming tournaments,“she said.

 “We will continue our hard work till we become number one team of India” She added.

However, the final title of the Championship was lifted by the teams (Boys and Girls) of West Bengal.
