Amarnath Yatra 2017: Pratham Pooja held at Chandanwari

Umang Narula, Chief Executive Officer, Amarnathji Shrine Board, performed Pratham Pooja on 9th June, 2017 on the auspicious occasion of Jyesht Purnima at Chandanwari on the traditional Pahalgam- Holy Cave route, amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras to invoke the blessings of Amarnath, for the smooth conduct of the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine. 

Amarnathji Shrine Board has been organizing Pratham Pooja on the auspicious occasion of Jyesht Purnima  every to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for the peaceful conduct of the Annual Yatra.

The CEO, who was accompanied by Jitendra Kumar Singh  Addl. CEO, SASB; Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag; Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, CEO Pahalgam Development Authority; Mohammad Ashraf, SDM Pahalgam; Maj. R.S. Bhumra, 8- Madras; R.K. Pandita, GM (Works), officers of the Shrine Board, District Administration and Karan Singh Charak and Sudershan Khajuria representatives of BABA  NIYAS.

CEO also reviewed the status of snow clearance on the track  and inspected on-going works at the Access Control Gate at Chandanwari, the Exit Control Gate which is being constructed ahead of the Glacier towards Pissu Top, and the 30 bed Base Hospital being set up at Chandanwari. He directed the officers of the Pahalgam Development Authority, R&B and PHE Departments to expedite the work on upgradation of the track on the entire Pahalgam route, erection of Shelter Sheds and ensure timely repair of all damaged infrastructure. CEO also inspected the Nunwan Base Camp and reviewed the arrangements being made for the safe and comfortable stay of Yatris.

CEO, SASB asked the CEO of the Pahalgam Development Authority to take timely action to ensure collection, segregation and disposal of all garbage which would be generated during the Yatra. He directed that the sanitation arrangements should be strictly monitored on daily basis, particularly ensuring the effective functioning of the STP’s at the Nunwan Base Camp and maintaining cleanliness in all the Camps.

CEO also asked officers of all the concerned Government Departments and agencies to work on war footing to put in place all arrangements at all Yatra camps on this route well before the commencement of the Yatra 2017 on 29th June.
