Injured Mattan youth recovering, doctors say
The 17 years old teenage student, Sameer Ahmad Bhat who sustained injuries last month after CRPF personnel fired smoke shells on protesting youth in Mattan area of South Kashmir is recovering, say doctors at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital.
“There has been a slight improvement in the health of Sameer,” the doctors said.
“His health condition is still critical. But as compared to the past few days, he is recovering,” they informed Kashmir Vision.
Expressing satisfaction over the progress shown by him to the treatment, the doctors said, “The injured youth is currently breathing without any life-saving support.”
Hailing from Tulchuhur village of South Kashmir’s Mattan town, Sameer’s skull was fractured on the backside and pieces of the skull bone had penetrated into his brain after getting hit by a teargas shell last month.
Pertinently, CRPF troopers had fired smoke shells towards the school compound where the students had assembled to stage protest against the killing of Hizbul Commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat.
Sameer’s injury even generated a statement from right’s watchdog amnesty international as they also demanded action against troops involved in targeting the unarmed protesting students.
Meanwhile, Sameer’s cousin Shabir Ahmad who was with him at the hospital told Kashmir Vision that “from last four days, his health condition is improving. He is listening to us and is responding as well.”
“The doctors suggested us to give him juices, milk and soup,” Ahmad informed.
