GNDU awards Kashmir cyclist Akbar Khan

Akbar Khan, Kashmir’s famous cyclist  was awarded Wednesday by Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) for his outstanding performances.

Akbar was awarded a cash prize of rupees 40,000 by Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Punjab in a function held this week.

The function was organised by GNDU to felicitated all its sports persons who won medals in All India Inter-university tournaments during 2016. Interestingly, Akbar Khan had won two gold medals in road cycling championship for GNDU.

However, Akbar will again leads GNDU in the upcoming Inter-University competitions. He will be representing in both road as well as track championships that are going to be held in Rajasthan and Kerala respectively.

Director, TCI Max Waseem Ahmad Trumboo and other dignitaries congratulated Khan for the award.

Pertinent to mention, Khan has been playing for TCI Max from last couple of years. 

Interestingly, Khan is the first cyclist from J&K who started to win prizes on imported cycles.
