Normal life was affected in the valley due to a shutdown called by the Joint resistance leadership against the killing of a civilian in firing by government forces in Ganaavpora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district earlier this week.

The joint resistance leadership has called for a shutdown and peaceful protests after Friday prayers.

All shops and other business establishments are closed in Srinagar while public transport is off the roads.

Similar reports of the shutdown were also received from other parts of the valley.

Adil Farooq Magrey was killed when forces opened fire on protesters who were trying to disrupt an anti-militancy operation in Ganwapora village on Tuesday.
