122nd Urs Hazrat Nizam-us-din Kiyanvi (RA) concludes in Kangan
Thousands of devotees thronged Baba Nagri Kangan to attend 122nd Urs of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA). The 2-day Urs, celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety, concluded today with special and joint prayers at Baba Nagri in Wangat Kangan.
Every year, the Urs commences on June 7 with Quran Khawani, Daroud Azqar and Khatmat-ul-Mozama followed by night long prayers and concludes on June 8 with joint prayers.
This year the rush of devotees was not witnessed so much as compared to previous years due to prevailing situation and Shopian killing.
The devotees from Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda, Shopian, Bandipora, Baramulla had reached Baba Nagri to participate in the Urs. Besides paying obeisance on the Dargah of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA) they also took part in night long Shab-khawani and Daroud Azqar gatherings held during Urs days.
On the concluding day, a joint prayer was held in which devotees prayed for peace, prosperity, unity, brotherhood and communal harmony of the State.
Aalam Din , 70, from Kalakote Rajouri has been coming to the Baba Nagri shrine from the times he can remember. “I have been coming here from my childhood,” said Aaalam Din.
“We come in groups or alone, in buses or on foot, but it has to be ensured that we come here,” he added.
Another devotee described his visits as spiritual recharging. “After visiting this holy place my mind and body is soothed. I get spiritual satisfaction,” he said.
The shrine gets lots of donations during the Urs. Besides offering cash, pilgrims also donate cattle, sheep or other livestock, maize, rice, corn, pulses etc.
The Mian family is the custodian of the shrine and Mian Bashir Ahmad, grandson of Baba Jee is one of the most revered figures among the Gujjer community.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajadh Nisheen Darbari Aaliya Babaji, Mian Bashir Ahmed highlighted the life and contribution of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din (RA). He said Hazrat Kiyanvi (RA) all along his life preached the lesson of Islam and piousness. He said following the Islamic teachings and treading on it can ensure eradication of evils spreading in the society.
Mian Bashir said that Islam teaches us the lesson of humanity and sympathy and stressed upon devotes to work for the welfare of common man and follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). He said Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA) followed the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and reached to this point of spiritualty. He said one can live peaceful and dignified life and strengthening the bases of communal harmony once he acts upon the teachings of Islam.
Mian Altaf nominated successor
On the ocassion Mian Altaf Ahmad was nominated as successor of his father Mian Bashir Ahmad.
He was nominated as the Sajjada-Nasheen Zayaarat Baba Jee Sahib Laarvi Wangath by his father.
The dastar bandi of Mian Altaf Ahmad was carried out in presence of clerics and thousands of devotees who attended the urs here.
Besides, Mian Altaf Ahmad various renowned religious leader and scholars participated in the congregation. Mian Altaf was personally supervising the lodging, boarding and other facilities put in place for the devotees during Urs days.
Baba Jee in 1863, at the age of 30, who originally belonged to Kashmir but had migrated to Hazara Division of Khyber Pakhtunwa in Pakistan during the late 19th century. He was mentored by another Sufi Saint Hazrat Nizam-ud-Din Wali Kiyanawi (RA). Later he was asked to return to Baba Nagri in Kashmir and preach Islam at the place. Gee Sahib spent 33 years of his life here for preaching Islam and died at the age of 63 and lies buried in the shrine. He was from Naqashbandi legacy.
Baba Jee also wrote some Islamic books including Asrar-e-Kabaree and Malfoozat-e-Nizame on Fiqah and Tasawuf. After Baba Jee’s death his son, Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din carried forward his legacy.
