Forces resort to aerial firing during search operation in south Kashmir

Security forces today resorted to aerial firing and tear smoke shelling to disperse protesters during a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Wullurhama village of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.

Witnesses said that people took to streets and clashed with forces to disrupt the CASO in Wularhama village of Dachnipora area of Pahalgam.

Reports said that the forces acting on an intelligence tipoff began a cordon and search operation in the village on Bijbhera-Pahalgam highway. However, when people restored to stone pelting, the forces responded to aerial firing and smoke shelling.

Meanwhile, no loss of life was reported.
