DDC reviews arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

District Development Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan convened a meeting to review the arrangements for ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, here today.

The meeting among others was attended by  SSP Traffic, Nisha Nathyal, RTO , A K Khajuria, ADCs, Rifat Kohli & Arun Manhas ACG, Sachin Jamwal, SDMs and  officers of concerned departments and representatives of various religious and social organizations .

DDC directed the concerned departments to work in synergy and ensure that adequate arrangements are put in place for the Yatra. He directed Tourism Department to ensure adequate arrangements at  Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar  for the pilgrims, while PDD and PHE Departments were asked to ensure adequate power and water supply to  Yatri Niwas and other lodging places.

JMC was directed to ensure proper sanitation at the Yatri Niwas, areas around Ram Mandir, Geeta Bhawan, Railway Station and other places. DDC  also stressed on ensuring that the street lights around Yatri Niwas are functional.

He asked RTO Jammu and Traffic Police to keep a strict check on overcharging by auto rickshaw and other passenger vehicles besides SRTC was directed to make sufficient arrangements for transportation.

The concerned departments have also been asked to keep a strict vigil on quality and rate of the commodities.

DDC sought cooperation from various religious and social organizations for the smooth conduct of Yatra and said that administration will make concerted efforts to put in place adequate arrangements for the convenience of the Yatris.

He stressed that all stakeholders should work in tandem to attract the yatries and tourists to other places of tourist importance.

Representatives of various social-religious organizations also assured cooperation to district administration for smooth conduct of yatra. Hoteliers association also informed that 35% discount would be offered to the yatries and tourists during the Yatra.
