Nocturnal cordon in many villages of Pulwama

Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operation Group laid a nocturnal cordon in many villages of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday late night.
The villages which were under cordon include Qazigund, Kakapora, Malangpora, Beigh pora and many other areas int he vicinity of these villages.
As per police sources, forces started a massive search operation after receiving inputs about the presence of top Hizbul Mujahideen militants in the area. As forces laid a siege, every road leading to these villages were closed.
As per sources, forces conducted house to house search operation that continued to till early hours of the Monday.
Meanwhile, youth came out at many places and started pelting stones on forces. The sources said that the forces retaliated with tear gas shelling which triggered clashes that continued for many hours in the death of the night.

However, no one was arrested during the search and cordon operation, sources said.

Meanwhile, locals demanded that such kind of nocturnal operation must be stopped during the sacred month of Ramadan.
It is pertinent to mention here that similar kind of search and cordon operation was conducted in dozen odd villages of Shopian district and Tral area in the month of May. However, in all massive search operations, forces returned empty handed.
