Police on Monday foiled a proposed meeting of the joint resistance leadership at the Hyderpora residence of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani by placing three prominent leaders under arrest.

The octogenarian leader continues to be house detention at his residence.

While Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence late last night, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Yasin Malik was arrested and lodged at Maisuma police station today morning.

The residence of Syed Ali Shah Geelani was sealed with rolls of concertina wire to foil the proposed meeting.

The JRL was supposed to meet on after National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids and “discuss the future course of action”.
