Improving ourselves during Ramadhan will reduce our ills: Mirwaiz

Stating that the holy month, Ramadhan brings the followers of Islam closer to Almighty Allah, President Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said that the month made obligatory to the Muslim Ummah is one full of Allahs blessings and a great opportunity for seeking his forgiveness and mercy.

As per the statement issued here, Mirwaiz while addressing a religious gathering on 8th Ramadhan at Masjid Hasnain at Botakadal Srinagar, said in the month of blessings Muslims can elevate themselves spiritually through complete devotion in prayers and doing good deeds towards fellow humans.

Mirwaiz said the way Muslims conduct themselves during this month’s trains them to follow it through the year.

“If we refine and improve ourselves during this month, the issues and ills confronting us as a society will also lessen,” he said.

“In this month, we should aim at looking at ways and means of helping those in need including the poor, those who are economically backward, destitute, children who have lost parents or those who can’t afford to educate their children and such and see how to support them,” Mirwaiz said.

Mirwaiz urged people to continue with the habit of offering prayers five times even after Ramadan.

On 10th of Ramadan, in connection with the Urs of Hazrat Khadija (RA), Mirwaiz will be addressing a gathering at the shrine of Hazrat Naqshband Sahab(RA) Khawjabazar Srinagar at 4 pm.
