CRPF jawans fired at us, allege students at Mattan

The students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Mattan, on Monday, staged a protest against the alleged use of force on them by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men on May 27.

The students said that many school students received life-threatening injuries in the clashes.

Sameer Ahmad, a Class XII student of Khulchur village of Mattan, is battling for life at SKIMS Soura after suffering a firearm injury on May 27. He was protesting the killing of top Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat in an encounter in Tral region of Pulwama district.

The protesting students alleged that troopers of 96 BN CRPF from the nearby camp opened fire without any provocation, resulting into severe injuries to Sameer.

A protesting student, who chose anonymity for fear of reprisal said, “After firing several rounds, the CRPF troopers thrashed several students inside the school.”

The protesters demanded the shifting of the CRPF camp located adjacent to the school.
