Officials Monday claimed that arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra 2017 are being given final touches.

“Almost all the arrangements have been completed and we are still working to sort out any left out work,” Tariq Hussain Ganai, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal told Kashmir Vision over phone.

“We have cleared the snow-clad roads leading towards the Amarnath Cave for the convenience of the pilgrims,” the DC said adding “Chopper facility will also be offered to the pilgrims”

He said the administration was working hard day and night so that the pilgrims don’t face any hardships.

“We are taking care of roads, water supply, power supply and other basic amenities for the comfort of pilgrims,” he said.

The officer said that this time around 1700 pilgrims have applied for their own temporary accommodations at Baltal base camp.

Ganai said that there will be no compromise on the security arrangements during the yatra session.

“For ensuring safety during the yatra, a three-tier security has been put in place by the government,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Abid Rashid Shah told Kashmir Vision that the best health care facilities are being worked out for the pilgrims.

“During the yatra a number of medical camps would be set-up for the treatment of the pilgrims,” he said.

“For the comfort of the pilgrims, the government this year has also started the chopper facility as well,” he added.

Pertinently, the Yatra is conducted through two routes- Baltal base camp in Central Kashmir’s Sonamarg hill station and Chandanwardi base camp in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam town.

Meanwhile, the registration for the 40 days yatra has already begun since Ist March 2017.

Registration facilities for Yatra 2017 are being provided to the Yatris through 436 branches of Punjab National Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bank and YES Bank located in 32 States and UTs across the country.
