Andrabi reviews progress of RAPDRP project

Minister of State for Haj, Auqaf and Power Development Department, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Sunday toured the southern part of the Srinagar City to take stock of the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) project.

Visiting various places, including Friends Colony, Sir Syed Avenue, and Co-operative Colony, the Minister also reviewed the progress of work underway at Rawalpora Grid Station, Airport Road Receiving Station and Rangreth PDD store.

Being informed about the current status of the project, the Minster was informed that some 65 feeders still need to installed at an expenditure of about 85 crore rupees to meet the requirement. He was also informed about the future course of the scheme.

Andrabi expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work and directed the Vice President Electrical Manufacturing Company, the executing agency for the project, to gear up and complete all the pending work at the earliest. He also stressed on enhancement of manpower and hiring experts and technicians on board to ensure that new deadlines are not missed.

The Minister called on the officials to ensure a mechanized system of work is pursued for the project. He also said that there is a need to employ technically sound people for the timely completion of RAPDRP in a time-bound manner.

During his interaction with the locals, the Minister was appraised of several issues facing the area like installation of street lights and replacement of defunct transformers.  He asked the concerned officials to take note of the grievances and redress them at the earliest.

Development Commissioner Power Development, Chief Engineer EM&RE, Chief Engineer Projects, Chief Engineer Systems & Operations among other concerned officers accompanied the Minister during the visit.
