Anantnag town re-opens after two days

Business activities resumed in the Anantnag town of South Kashmir after remaining suspended for two days.

Following the assurance by the authorities to compensate the traders who suffered damage after a teargas shells caused a fire in the market on Friday afternoon, business establishments opened their shutters and resumed their activities.

Meanwhile, police have already announced a probe into the fire incident while Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) and Congress have demanded an inquiry into the incident.

Traders had observed strike demanding action against the security forces who allegedly vandalised some shops during the clashes on Friday.

However, a police spokesman said that the cause of the fire is under investigation. He said that the teargas shelling by security was in the afternoon and the fire incident happened later in the evening.
