Hurriyat (M) felicitates Kashmiri Pandits on Mela Kheerbhawani

Hurriyat (M), on Thursday, paid tributes to two youths Aijaz Ahmed Mir and Basharat Ahmed Sheikh, who were killed by forces during an encounter in Sopore area of Baramulla district.

The spokesman stated that we feel the pain of the sacrifices of our youth but they strengthen the nation’s resolve towards the ongoing freedom struggle.

The spokesman expressed solidarity with the kin of dead on behalf of Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the entire Hurriyat leadership.

He condemned the continuous house detention of its Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and for barring him from carrying out his religious obligations in the holy month of Ramadan.

The spokesman said that it is ironic that in the name of maintaining ‘law and order’ Mirwaiz is prevented from addressing religious congregations, which is decades-old tradition of the Mirwaizeen in the fasting month of Ramadan. He termed it as a utter contempt and disregard of the religious rights and sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims.

The spokesman said Centre has placed almost all the Hurriyat leaders under house detention or lodged them in various jails across the state, including women leaders like Asiya.

He condemned the continuous detention of APHC senior leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, who remains lodged in Sherbag Islamabad police station and APHC media advisor Advocate Shahidul Islam who is confined to his house.

He also condemned the continuous closure of higher secondary schools and colleges across the Valley by the authorities and said the regime is marring the education of our future generations.

The spokesman felicitated Kashmiri Pandit brethren on the occasion of their sacred festival Mela Kheerbhawani stating that they are part and parcel of the Kashmiri society and urged them to return to their homeland and to once again be part of Kashmiri society.
