DDC reviews progress under district plan

District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar directed constitution of an Inter-departmental Coordination Committee to resolve all bottlenecks delaying execution of development works in the district in a meeting convened here today.

Threadbare discussion was held on physical and financial status of the roads, buildings and other development works underway in Mahore, Gulabgarh, Chassana, Dharmari, Arnas, Pouni, Katra and Bomag.

It was informed in the meeting that amount of Rs. 7 crore has been allocated under regular schemes to the various sectors at the start of financial year. Likewise, the RDD has already released 30 crore to all blocks for clearing their pending liability.

The DDC stressed for better coordination among concerned Departments and executing agencies, so that the projects are completed in a time-bound manner and their benefits percolate to the grassroot level.

  While reviewing the status of projects taken up under convergence, the District Development Commissioner directed the officers to work with zeal so that the set targets are achieved well in time. He said schemes like MNREGA and IAY are meant to create durable assets in the far flung areas and provide livelihood avenues.

The DDC directed the concerned officers to speed up the tendering process and initiate strict action against the contractors who abandon the work midway. He asked them to ensure strict monitoring for proper upkeep of the roads so that people do not face any inconvenience.

He also stressed on time bound utilization of funds allocated under various schemes and projects.

The meeting was attended by ACD M.Y. Malik, CPO, Deputy Director Planning, Executive engineers and district officers.
