The chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Sunday, paid tributes to Aasiya and Neelofar on their eighth anniversary and said dignified nations do not tolerate the attack on the chastity of their daughters and sisters.

According to the statement issued here, Shah said it was a heart-wrenching incident in Shopian and is ‘intolerable’.

He asked the people of Kashmir to strongly protest the ‘dastardly act’ and demand punishment for the rapists involved.

Lashing out at the then government in the state, Shah said they did everything to protect the culprits involved in the shameful act.

Criticising Mehbooba Mufti for shedding crocodile tears over the incident and expressing fake sympathy to the victims’ families as an Opposition leader, Shah said after coming to power, she has maintained a complete silence on the incident.

Connecting Aasiya-Neelofar double rape with Tabinda Gani, Kunan Poshpora, and other similar tragedies, Shah appealed to the people and Azadi leadership to observe May 30 as ‘Women’s Security Day’ in memory of Aasiya and Neelofar.

He expressed grief over the accidental death of a six-year-old daughter of People’s Freedom League general secretary Mohammad Ramzan Khan. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

A delegation led by Aashiq Hussain visited the residence of Mohammad Ramzan Khan and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family.
