A day after the two Hizb militants and a civilian were killed in Tral area of Pulwama, the authorities on Sunday detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik and People’s Political Party (PPP) chairman, Hilal Ahmad War.

Malik was shifted to Srinagar’s central jail while War was lodged at Maisuma Police Station.

Police in the wee hours of this morning reached the Maisuma residence of Malik and detained him.

Pertinently, Malik visited the residences of slain Hizb militants Sabzar Ahmed Bhat and Faizan Muzaffaron Saturday where he addressed the mourners.

Chairman of People’s Political Party (PPP) Hilal Ahmad War was arrested today from his Maisuma residence in Srinagar.

The spokesman of PPP said that after his arrest, War was lodged in police station Maisuma. He said that War was arrested to prevent him from leading a demonstration following the killing of top Hizb commander Sabzar Bhat in an encounter with forces.

Almost all the separatist leaders have either been detained or placed under house detention to prevent them from spearheading rallies.

Two militants including a top Hizb militant, Sabzar and a civilian were killed in Tral during an encounter and subsequent protests on Saturday.

Following the killing, the authorities imposed curfew like restrictions at most of the places in the Valley as precautionary measures.
