Tral Encounter update: Clashes erupted in Tral, dozens injured

Dozens of people were injured in Rathsuna area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district where clashes between forces and protesters are underway since Saturday morning.

Rathsuna is situated near Saimoo village where a fierce encounter between militants and government forces in going on since Friday evening.

Local sources said that forces used pellets and tear smoke canisters against protesters who are trying to break the forces cordon and help the holed up militants escape.

Three militants including Hizb Commander Sabzar Ahmad are believed to be trapped in the area which has been cordoned off by a large contingent of the army, SOG and CRPF, sources said.

Rathsuna is the native village of the militant commander Sabzar Ahmad.

The injured youth were shifted to Sub District Hospital Tral for treatment.

Meanwhile, the encounter between the forces and militants is underway in the Saimoo village of Tral.
