Programme on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ held

As part of the nationwide “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” mission of empowering the girl child in every sphere of life, a grand function was today organized at Govt Girls Higher Secondary school Baramulla with District Development Commissioner Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash as the chief guest.

          Programme was organized by education department in collaboration with District administration Baramulla which marked the attendance of hundrends of students.

          Speaking on the occasion, the DDC emphasized upon the need to create awareness among masses with regard to educating a girl child. He exhorted upon the significance of the campaign and said that a woman comprises half of the population and they should not be deprived of their basic rights including right to education. He also termed gender inequality as the threat to the stability of society and assured of every possible initiative in this regard.

          While citing the example of many woman personalities, the DDC said that there is a need to provide platform for exploring the hidden talent. He stressed upon imparting moral education among students and terms it the only tool to transform society.

          Meanwhile various speakers spoke on the topic and highlighted the need of its dissemination. Also some cultural programmes were organized by the students depicting the importance of the campaign wherein awards were given to the best performing students.

          Among others Chief Education Officer, Dy Chief Education Officer, Principal GHHS Baramulla were present on the occasion.
