Minister seeks support for revival of JK’s sericulture sector

Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today called on Chairman, Central Silk Board K M Hanumam Tharayappa who was on a tour to Jammu.

During the interaction, the Minister impressed upon the Chairman that financial assistance should be provided to the sericulture sector to boost it in a big way in the state particularly in tribal areas.

The Minister also emphasized the need to increase revolving fund to the tune of Rs 6 crore, establishment of more automatic reeling units in the State under CSB programmes which will increase the demand for the cocoon and help in increasing the income of growers.

The Minister for Agriculture asked Director Sericulture J&K to submit a proposal for development of sericulture in Tribal areas and impressed upon the Chairman CSB to increase the financial assistance under TSP and SCSP. He impressed upon the Chairman CSB to provide financial assistance on timely basis and the flow of funds greatly eases the pressure on the grower.

Chairman CSB assured the Minister of all help in reviving past glory of sericulture.

Director Sericulture was also present on the occasion.
