Disaster Preparedness training imparted

Disaster preparedness training was imparted to the students of New SM Dedicated School, Syedpora Eidgah on their annual day function today. The chief guest on the occasion was Director Disaster management J&K, Aamir Ali.

Others present on the occasion were senior Vice President Bharat Scouts and Guides, Roma wani, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Srinagar, M.A. Trumboo, chairman of the school, Mohammad Ashraf, Principal, Ms. Foziya and vice principal Ms. Sumaira and district Chief Trainer, Imran Khan.

        The students presented a colorful cultural programme which was appreciated by one and all.

        Later, the students were imparted awareness about disasters and lifesaving skills training was imparted to them.

Minister lays foundation of Mini Secretariat at Bijbehara

BIJBEHARA: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri today laid the foundation stone of Mini Secretariat here to ease and enhance the reach of governance at the doorsteps of the people

District Development Commissioner Anantnag Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, officers of the district administration and other concerned were also present on the occasion.

It was given out that the Mini Secretariat would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.85 crore and will house offices of SDM, Clerical Hall, BDO Office Clerical Hall, Court Room, Retiring Room, Horticulture Development officer, ZEO, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Settlement, Tehsildar Territorial, Record Room and other Government offices.

Veeri said that the construction of the Mini Secretariat was a long pending demand of the people of Bijbehara and would go a long way in taking the governance to the doorsteps of the people.

He also inaugurated the SDM Office at Bijbehara and said that it will provide relief to the people in availing various facilities like PRC, revenue related documents and others.

Further, Veeri along with the officers also identified the land for setting up of residential quarters for officers adjacent to the proposed Mini Secretariat. He directed the R&B Officials to macadamize the road leading to the Mini Secretariat from the main highway.

Later, the Minister inaugurated bridge at Adder-Seepan which was constructed at a cost of Rs 5.31 crore. He said that with the commissioning the Bridge, surface connectivity between Bijbehara and Anantnag will improve significantly and it would greatly reduce the travel distance as well.

Pertinently, construction of the bridge was a long pending demand of locals and will provide them a better alternate connectivity with the district headquarters.
