Schools will be inspected by concerned ZEO’s and CEOs 3 days a week: Minister
In a move to make promote effective schooling Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday said that all the Chief Education Officer (CEOs), Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) will spare 3-days exclusively in a week to conduct the tour for inspection of schools falling under their jurisdiction.
The minister further said that these officials will then send their reports to Director School Education on weekly basis. “We are on the job of evolving a holistic surveillance mechanism that shall ensure effective schooling and timely redress of grievances at the grassroots level,” he said.
Government run schools in the state have often come under criticism in providing quality education and the issues faced by them include the shortage of teachers and Head Masters, lack of toilets, shortage of space in schools, addition of subjects, and lack of professionalism among teachers.
Bukhari said that such measures will create a dependable monitoring mechanism in the education system at the school level. He was addressing a high level meeting convened here to take stock of education sector of Anantnag and Kulgam districts. The meeting was attended by various ministers, Members of Legislative Assembly and officials from various departments.
In his address Bukhari assured that all the education system will be monitored closely and all the constituencies will be treated equally irrespective of political affiliations.
Bukhari said that his focus is on instilling sense of duty and responsibility in teachers, making them accountable and motivating parents besides involving legislators and local bodies in managing school affairs to restore the glory of education in the State.
In the meeting other affairs related to school educations were also brought in and the minister directed the officials to look into grievances and other issues.
