PET for constable posts in JK Police culminates
Jammu and Kashmir Police, on Wednesday, concluded the Physical Endurance Test of candidates belonging to the Leh district for the recruitment of constables.
The process began in Srinagar on May 13 and concluded in Leh. 588 candidates underwent physical test at Degree College ground at Leh and 256 candidates were declared qualified. The drive was initiated in the state from Jammu district on March 20 and completed on April 21.
More than 1.18 lakh candidates from all the districts of the state had applied for the 5381 advertised posts and the candidates found eligible to appear in the next phase will be called for a written test for which dates would be notified separately. A huge response was seen and more than 82 per cent of the candidates appeared for the tests.
All the steps involved in the Physical Endurance Test were technology driven with no human intervention. The physical tests were conducted by using RFID chips with computerized readings. All the events in the physical tests were videographed and the candidates having any grievance with regard to their results were provided opportunity to view the result on CCTV footage.
The Recruitment Board had made it clear through different means of media that there is no scope of any influence or interference in the recruitment. Merit obtained in written test would be the sole criterion for selection.
Candidates had been advised not to fall prey to touts, who could try to lure them on false promises.
To strengthen trust, police-public meet held in Kulgam
Srinagar: A police public meeting was organized in Kulgam district of South Kashmir to strengthen the police-public relations.
The meeting was held at Kulgam police station and was chaired by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shafiq Ahmad.
A huge gathering of people, including Auqaf committee members and students from different institutions participated in the meeting. The participants told the police officer various problems of importance to them.
Ahmad said that the meeting was organized to solicit suggestions from people for better policing as police-public co-operation was imperative for maintaining peace and order.
He assured the participants that the grievances would be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal.
