Mani Shankar Aiyer meets Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

Former Union Minister from Congress government Mani Shankar Aiyer today met Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his residence in Nigeen today morning, sources said.

Mani Shankar is a part of Delhi based peace group and is expected to meet all top and lower rung leadership of the Hurriyat for a fresh opinion building in India on Kahsmir.

“We are not in government but we are concerned and pained to see Kashmir bleeding. So we came here on our own expenses, and want to meet every body and get a fresh feedback what Kashmiris want and whether there can be a road ahead,” Mani Shankar Aiyer told media yesterday.

 Other members of the group are O P Shah, journalist Vinod Sharma and Kapil Kak.

Earlier the group organized a six-hour long seminar on the title Kashmir— a Road Ahead in Srinagar, where in some Hurriyat leaders also participated besides a huge number of people including representatives from all the mainstream groups.
