DCJ workshop on photography concludes
The two-day workshop on photography, conducted by the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir (CUK), concluded here Tuesday.
On the second day, students along with the resource person, Mr. Javed Dar went for a field trip to Gurveth in Budgam district, known for copperware, as most families engage in the dying craft. The photos captured by the students were previewed at the valediction.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar appreciated students for depicting the plight of the community through photographs. “There are certain professional training courses which you cannot teach in the classroom,” he said while stressing on the importance of regular interactions between students and field practitioners in journalism.
About the need to conduct workshops, he said, “It’s an important part of journalism curriculum and helps students in honing their skills under the guidance of experts from the field.”
Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka thanked the guest for sparing his time for the workshop. He congratulated the DCJ for conducting the workshop and acknowledged the student-friendly initiatives of the university administration.
Coordinator, DCJ, Asif Khan spoke about the relevance and importance of the workshop and thanked the varsity administration for its constant support to the department.
