Synergize efforts for effective implementation of welfare schemes: Minister

Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today called for a synergized approach from the officers and people at grass root levels to ensure successful implementation of various welfare initiatives undertaken by the Government in Power Development Department (PDD) and Housing and Urban Development sector so that quality services are being provided to the people.

The Deputy Chief Minister said this while reviewing the functioning of PDD and Housing & Urban Local bodies, today at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.

            MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh, Commissioner/Secretary PDD, Chief Engineer PDD, DDC Baramulla, Director Housing & Urban Local Bodies, ADC, besides other district and sectoral officers were present in the meeting.

            The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to take proactive measures for streamlining supply and containing power theft, to avoid losses to the department. He said the officers should also ensure that the revenue realization is in tune with the power usage.

            Apprised by the DDC about the number of ration cards in the district, the Deputy CM suggested synchronization of electricity connections with the ration cards, so that illegal connections are identified and sorted out at the earliest to prevent disproportional losses to the state exchequer.

            The Deputy CM also called for timely completion of various developmental works executed by the department and directed the concerned officers to conduct weekly reviews, and consider follow up and submit action taken report.

                        Reiterating the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for round the clock supply of electricity to every household in the country, Deputy CM called for coordinated efforts by all the concerned agencies for realising the commitment. Singh said that coordinated efforts would lead the State on a path of progress, economic development, enhancing standard of life in general. He said it will also help to catalyze the potential of youth to emerge as successful entrepreneurs and would create more employment opportunities and accruing benefits to all.

On this occasion, MLA Baramulla suggested for inclusion of Baramulla under AMRUT.
