RBI organises customer service meet
‘Customer Service Meeting’ of Foreign Exchange Department, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for Jammu & Kashmir was held on Monday at RBI Office Srinagar.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of D.K. Kashyap, Deputy General Manager, and In-charge Foreign Exchange Department for the state.
Addressing the gathering, Kashyap, according to the statement highlighted the importance of organizing such meetings and “dwelt at length the role and responsibilities of Authorized Dealers in meeting the genuine requirement of Forex users within the provisions of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999.”
Kashyap impressed upon the authorized dealers “to educate their customers about various facilities available to exporters, importers, travellers, businessmen and tourists.” “Without contravening the provisions of the FEMA, 1999,” he added.
According to the statement he also discussed the latest developments in the arena of foreign exchange regulation which sought to align the regulatory requirements with the market demands.
Anil Reshi, Manager, RBI, Jammu, who was also present at the ceremony discussed current issues related to trade that has been engaging attention of ADs and RBI alike.
According to the statement, he emphasized that “customers should freely express their difficulties so that regulatory interventions can be brought in wherever necessary.”
The meeting was also attended by Assistant Commissioner Customs and Central Excise Jayapal. J, IRS, Shri Vikas Deshmukh, Representative of ECGC, senior Officers of all the Authorized Dealers (ADs) operating in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, FFMCs and a sizeable number of forex customers.
