Protests erupt in Kashmir University against detention of Journalism student

Scores of Kashmir University students staged a protest on Tuesday inside the campus demanding the release of their colleague, who has been detained under PSA.

Tahir Hussain Mir, student of Media Education Research Centre is a resident of Bandipora district in North Kashmir. He was arrested in September 2016 for allegedly ‘disrupting law and order and stone pelting’.

According to the sources, police had reportedly planned to shift Tahir to Kotbilwal form Srinagar Central Jail, where he is currently lodged.

Recently, photographs of Tahir went viral on social media, when he arrived handcuffed for the examination.
